Some of these emotional changes may be related to conditions such as anxiety and depression. Declining mental health can affect the well-being of the woman, her baby, and her family. For this reason, support from a partner, family, significant others, and medical care can play a fundamental role in emotional recovery.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Symptoms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Feeling sad, worthless, and\/or excessively worried<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crying easily or more than usual<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No longer enjoying activities previously enjoyed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lack of energy and motivation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sleeping too much or too little<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eating too much or too little<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Difficulty concentrating and\/or making decisions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feelings of guilt and hopelessness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A feeling that something bad is going to happen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nonspecific body aches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inability to stop worrying about the baby<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feeling unable to care for the baby<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Negative thoughts about the baby<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Negative or distorted thoughts (in rarer cases)<br\/><br\/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recommendations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Learn about mental health care during pregnancy and postpartum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seek support or treatment to manage your symptoms when necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practice stress management techniques such as: deep breathing, meditation, gentle walks, and\/or keeping a gratitude journal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continue your mental health treatment if you are already receiving support from a psychologist or psychiatrist. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allow others to get involved in activities that help improve your mental well-being.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a>If you have hypothyroidism, you must continue with your treatment.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dedicate time to take care of yourself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect with other mothers and participate in support groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Seek help from a mental health professional or contact your obstetrician-gynecologist:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you experience any related symptoms for more than two weeks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have a diagnosed mental health disorder and your symptoms worsen during or after pregnancy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, call
